Nothing says Italy like someone eating gelato on a colourful Vespa. But if it wasn't for WWII, the little scooter could never have been!
Parent company Piaggio used to build aeroplanes until it was grounded by the end of the war. Never mind, Piaggio's sons Enrico and Armando soon revived the family fortunes with their painted, pressed steel unibody scooter with an enclosed engine (no more greasy chinos), flat floorboard and prominent front for wind protection.
